A Landmark Gathering on Japan's Green Transformation

Japan’s Green Transformation (GX) policy is central to achieving its carbon neutrality goal by 2050. As climate challenges intensify, transformative changes across Japan’s energy and industrial sectors are vital.
This event provided a platform for experts from diverse fields to share insights on practical solutions, emerging technologies, and financial support for a sustainable future. Key topics included energy transition innovation (CCUS, H2, geothermal etc.), emissions abatement (flaring, methane etc.), green financing, LNG and commercial frameworks.
Baseload Power Japan’s Presentation: Unlocking Japan’s Geothermal Potential
Our Country Manager, Petter Sund, presented Unlocking Japan’s Geothermal Potential: Key Opportunities and Challenges for the Geothermal Industry, covering:
- The Role of Geothermal Energy: As a reliable and renewable baseload power, geothermal energy can significantly enhance Japan’s energy mix and drive progress toward carbon neutrality.
- Expanding Geothermal Capacity: Japan aims to increase its geothermal capacity from 600 MW to 1,500 MW by 2030. Baseload Power Japan spotlighted the vast potential of low- and medium-temperature geothermal resources.
- Pathways Forward: We highlighted our commitment to building robust local and international partnerships, advancing regulatory frameworks, and fostering community support to ensure the success of geothermal initiatives.
