What are your hidden powers?

Hi! I’m Ignis.

Ignis is the Latin word for “fire,” which is fitting, because I get my power from the Earth’s inner core.

For a long time, I didn’t actually realize that I had any kind of power. In fact, it felt like I couldn’t do anything right. People were afraid of the earthquakes and volcanoes that I could generate, and even when I wanted to play, it seemed like I was always ruining something.

But that all changed with the help of my friends–Sunny, Windy, Terry, and Kai. Just as the sun, air, land, and sea provide our beautiful planet with the tools we all need to survive, they showed me that I have an important role to play, too!

In addition to moving continents, it turns out that heat from the earth – called “geothermal” – can actually be used to heat, cool, and power homes, cities and countries! And when I work together with all my friends, we are able to provide awesome amounts of energy through solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal.

We all have an important contribution to make, and the combination of “our hidden powers” adds up to something really special–a planet in balance, where everyone thrives.

We have all heard that an important step to helping our planet is by making the switch to green energy. This includes commonly understood forms of energy like solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. It also includes geothermal. Geothermal is a renewable, reliable, clean, and abundant source of energy. Despite these many attributes, many people don’t know a lot about it. We at Baseload Capital decided to do something about that!

Cue Ignis, the charming main character of the children’s book Our Hidden Powers. With the help of friends, Ignis learns about her hidden power – the heat beneath our feet, and the important role she plays in the ecosystem of renewable energy.

Through charming dialogue and illustrations, Our Hidden Powers seeks to both entertain and educate the next generation, as well as their parents and other family members. Ignis’s story helps increase the awareness, understanding, and appeal of geothermal while also serving to initiate important conversations about the unique gifts we all possess and the power of teamwork in making our world a better place.
