Driving sustainability through education: Earth Day press conference in Hualien, Taiwan

To celebrate Earth Day, we were honored to join the Hualien County Government and the Swedish Trade & Invest Council in Taiwan at a special press conference in Hualien on April 16, 2025. The event brought together over 70 students and 50 principals and educators for a meaningful conversation on sustainability and education.
Magistrate Hsu shared the county’s strong commitment to sustainability, emphasizing that in Hualien, sustainability isn’t just a campaign — it’s a way of life.
Helena Reitberger, Swedish Representative, delivered a heartfelt speech in Chinese, introducing Sweden and it’s journey toward sustainability and echoing the shared vision between Sweden and Taiwan in the green transition. On the same day, the Swedish office donated 126 copies of “Our Hidden Powers” to all elementary and middle schools in Hualien to inspire the next generation to learn more about nature and renewable energy.
We’re proud that our children’s book could serve as a catalyst for change, and our Regional Marketing Director, Claire, gave a short reading to offer a glimpse into the story’s message.
As Van Hoang, our CEO and Chairman, said at the event:
“As a Swedish geothermal developer active in Hualien County, we are committed to working with the government, NGOs, and the local community to promote sustainability and energy education. By nurturing energy and environmental awareness in children, we hope to drive long-term, meaningful change.”
